Privacy Policy — CartVerdict

CartVerdict (“the Extension”, “we”, “us”) is a Chrome extension developed by Best Value Lab that provides AI-generated shopping insights on supported Amazon product pages. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension processes, how it is used, and your choices.

1. What Information We Process

When you visit a supported Amazon product page, the Extension reads publicly available information displayed on that page in order to generate its analysis. This may include:

• Product title, ASIN, price, and discount information
• Seller and fulfillment information shown on the page
• Publicly visible customer ratings and review text
• Other publicly displayed product details on the page

This information is sent to our backend servers to generate the AI Shopping Summary, Deal Score, and Review Highlights shown by the Extension. We do not access, collect, or process any information from pages other than supported Amazon product pages.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your name, email address, physical address, or any account credentials.
• We do not collect your browsing history outside of supported Amazon product pages.
• We do not collect your Amazon account information, order history, or payment information.
• We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.

3. How the Information Is Used

Product page data is used solely to:

• Generate the AI Shopping Summary, Deal Score, and Review Highlights displayed within the Extension.
• Temporarily cache results (server-side and locally via chrome.storage.local) so that repeat visits to the same product page load faster and to reduce unnecessary reprocessing.

Cached data is retained only for a limited period (governed by an expiration/TTL policy) and is automatically deleted afterward.

4. Third-Party AI Processing

To generate summaries, publicly available product page text may be transmitted to third-party AI model providers strictly for the purpose of generating the analysis shown to you. These providers process the data solely to return a result to our backend and do not use it to build user profiles.

5. Data Storage and Security

Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). Cached data stored on our servers is time-limited and access-controlled. Local caching in your browser via chrome.storage.local remains on your device and is not accessible to other websites or extensions.

6. Your Choices

• You can stop all data processing at any time by disabling or uninstalling the Extension.
• The Extension only activates on supported Amazon product pages — it does not run in the background on other sites.

7. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly process data from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above.
